Cashier's Check through the Marquardt Savings Bank on tan paper, check is from the Dr. S.S. Still College and Infirmary of M.W. Bailey for $25, check is signed by A.B. Shaw secretary and treasurer of the school, the College name is stamped above the treasurer's signature in green, also stamped in green is the date, stamped in black is "PAID / NOV 2 1900 / MARQUARDT SAVINGS BANK, / DES MOINES, IOWA.", stamped in purple is the number six in a diamond, printed in the center of the page is an image in orange made up of several circles with a cameo image in the center which serves as a two cent stamp and reads "DOCUMENTARY / 2 / STAMP" on both of the small circles which flank the large center circle that reads "UNITED STATES / 2 / INTERNAL REVENUE / 2", back is signed by "Dr M.W. Bailey", stamped in black is "PAY TO THE ORDER OF / Any BANK or BANKER, / STATE SAVINGS BANK, / Logan, Iowa. / CHAS. F. LUCE, Prest.", stamped in purple is "Des Moines Clearing House / PAID. / NOV 2 1900 / VALLEY NAT'L BANK.", stamped in blue is "All Prior Endorsements Guaranteed. / Pay any Bank or Order. / First National Bank, / COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA. / CHAS. R. HANNAN, Cashier."; 20.9 cm (w) x 8.1 cm (h). Discoloration and yellowing, brown stain on left side likely from water damage, black and brown spots and marks, red and pink stains and marks, four pronged tear in the center, one vertical crease from folding, all corners bent, edges and corners worn, left side and edge of the check waves, right and top edge bent. |
