Still College and Infirmary of Osteopathy to Funk and Wagnalls for $3, check is signed by A.B. Shaw secretary and treasurer of the school, the College name is stamped above the treasurer's signature in green, also stamped in green is the date, check contains a 2 cent stamp with "The Dr. S.S.S.C. & I. of O." two times and "JUN 29 1900" stamped on it in blue, stamped on the page in pink is "VALLEY NAT'L BANK, / PAID. / JUL 6 1900 / Des Moines, Iowa.", the initial dollar amount is crossed out with pencil and written to the left of it in pencil is "3.00", there is also the image of a beehive on a table surrounded by trees and flowers on the left side, the back is unsigned, stamped in purple on the back is "PAY TO THE ORDER OF / ASTOR PLACE BANK, Branch of / THE CORN EXCHANGE BANK, N.Y. / THE LITERARY DIGEST, / FUNK & WAGNALLS CO., / BY A. W. WAGNALLS, VICE PRES." and "Pay ANY BANK OR BANKER, / FOR COLLECTION FOR / THE CORN EXCHANGE BANK, N.Y. / ASTOR PLACE BANK BRANCH. / ENDORSEMENTS GUARANTEED, / WM. E. WILLIAMS, Assistant Cashier, / A.", stamped in blue is a cross pattée with the text in the arms and a circle in the center the text in the arms read "Des Moines" "Clearing House" "7" and "Capital City State Bk" and the text in the center reads "JUL 6 1900", stamped in green is "PAY ANY BANK OR BANKER, / OR ORDER / The Metropolitan National Bank of Chicago, / S. H. Hitchcock, Cashier. / JUL [5] 1900", handwritten on the page in pencil is "6.2/"; 19.7 cm (w) x 7.5 cm (h). Discoloration and yellowing, brown stain on right side likely from water damage, some black and brown spots, three pronged tear right of center, two holes in the left side from a pin, indent and waving as well as rust stains from the pin, one vertical crease from folding, the entire page waves as does the right edge, edges and corners worn, left portion of the bottom edge curls down, bottom corner bent, bottom and right edges frayed and torn. |
