Out of the Ginger Jar; No Date. Poem titled "OUT OF THE GINGER JAR." attached to page 43 of the Ilgenfritz Scrapbook, clipping taken from an unknown newspaper, poem contains four sections titled "The Tenant." "His Winter Vacation." "Getting an Early Start." and "The After Effects.", first section is about a picture of a girl kept by her ex-lover and his determination to take it down when she marries her new beau, the second section discloses Jimmy's enjoyment of the cold weather because he won't have to bathe if the pipes are frozen, the third part suggests that an early marriage will often not last, the final section discusses the effect of a unseasonable freeze in Dixie and the southern poets who will go on about the danger to the various fruit crops; 5.7 cm (w) x 15.8 cm (h). Paper yellowing, brown stains, black marks and smudges, crease across the center where it was formerly folded. |
